Danvers Teams Play Deep Into State Tournament Draws
The Danvers High football, field hockey and girls soccer teams reached the Round of 8 of the new statewide tournaments.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers High students and sports fans will have plenty to root for over the next few days with three teams advancing deep into the new statewide tournaments.
The sixth-seeded Danvers field hockey team was set to travel to third-seeded Westwood in the Division 2 state tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. The Falcons advanced to the Round of 8 with a 4-0 victory against Westfield and a 3-1 victory against Dartmouth.
(UPDATE: The Danvers field hockey team came up short in a 2-1 loss against Westwood in double-overtime Thursday night.)

The fifth-seeded Danvers girls soccer team will travel to face fourth-seeded Silver Lake in the Division 2 tournament Saturday at 4 p.m. The soccer team advanced to the Round of 8 with a 1-0, penalty-kick victory against North Attleboro and a 3-1 triumph against Holliston.
The seventh-seeded Danvers football team will hit the South Shore to clash with No. 2 Duxbury Friday night at 7. Danvers advanced to the quarterfinals with a 17-12 victory against Wayland.

Danvers also celebrated several athletes signing their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.
Two-time girls soccer All-American Ari Bezanson signed her NLI for Colgate University, while All-State player Gabby Chisholm signed her NLI for St. Anselm.

Field hockey player Grace Brinkley signed her NLI to play at Assumption, while Luke Llewellyn signed an NLI to run track and field at Merrimack.
