Danvers Town Manager Search Committee Confirmed
The Search Committee for a new town manager will consist Select Board members Dan Bennett, Maureen Bernard and five community members.
DANVERS, MA — The Danvers Town Manager Search Committee will consist of Select Board Chair Dan Bennett, Select Board member Maureen Bernard and five community members after the Select Board confirmed the make-up of the committee at Tuesday night's meeting.
Community Paradigm was commissioned to solicit interest in the position and conduct recruitment following the resignation of Steve Bartha this fall to take the town manager's job in Lexington. Rodney Conley has been the acting town manager since Bartha left the position in October.
The published position statement states that Danvers is seeking a visible town manager who listens to the needs of residents and fosters engagement through community events and activities. The successful candidate must have strong personnel and conflict management skills and be able to create a positive working environment, recruit and retain staff and develop a future succession plan.

"This position requires a transparent leader and communicator who will foster trust and morale among staff, interact and engage with the public, and guide and advise the Select Board," the position statement said.
Under the current town charter, the town manager is required to live in the town. However, the Select Board is reviewing options for amending the town charter related to that requirement this spring.
