Essex County Jail Resumes Prisoner Visits
Visits had been suspended since March as the jail took precautions against during the coronavirus crisis.

MIDDLETON, MA — Visits at the Essex County correctional facility in Middleton will resume Monday, although there will be new restrictions in place.
Under the new restrictions, inmates will be restricted to one visit per day during an initial phase. The Essex County Sheriff's office is also requiring visitors to register advance. The jail will expand visiting hours from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. daily to accommodate more visitors.
Visitors need to call 978-750-1900 ext. 3472 between noon and 3 p.m. 24 to 48 hours ahead of their visit to make a visitation request.

The visits were suspended in March to slow the spread of the coronavirus. Since April 5, 75 inmates, 16 correctional officers and four staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, but there has been only one confirmed case of coronavirus since June 3.
