Fast-Acting Danvers Car Dealership Employees Save Colleague's Life

Honda North employees administered CPR and applied an AED shock to a fellow employee who had stopped breathing on Tuesday.

DANVERS, MA — Fast-acting employees at Honda North in Danvers are being credited with saving a colleague's life on Tuesday as they administered CPR and applied an automated external defibrillator shock to restore the man's heart rhythm after he had collapsed and stopped breathing.

The Danvers Fire Department said the man's pulse had returned and he was breathing on his own by the time crews arrived, and that the staff met them in the parking lot and guided them to his location at the dealership.

"The actions of staff at Honda North absolutely saved this man's life," Danvers fire said in a message on social media. "They did everything right.

"We are told he is doing well today."

Danvers fire officials said that when they checked on the man's condition on Wednesday they were told that Honda North had a similar incident about 10 years ago with the same result.

"We cannot stress enough the importance of being trained in CPR and having access to AED's in public spaces and places of business," Danvers fire said. "Honda North plans to purchase an additional AED and provide CPR training for their employees.

"Well done!"
