Giant Pumpkin Winner Tops 2,500 Pounds At 207th Topsfield Fair

The Topsfield Fair also saw a new record Hot Dog Eating contest total and crowned its Junior King and Queen this weekend.

TOPSFIELD, MA — A giant pumpkin easily topping one ton, a new record Hot Dog Eating contest winner and a Junior King and Queen crowned were part of a busy opening weekend at the 207th Topsfield Fair.

Alex Noel of Abington, Connecticut, kicked off this year's Fair with a Giant Pumpkin winner that weighed in at 2,507 pounds.

Daniel Kruszyna of Cheshire had the second-place pumpkin at 2,234 pounds and Thomas Kennan of Swampscott was third with a pumpkin hitting exactly 2,000 pounds.

Robert McGee, of Rockaway, New York, earned $207 for setting a new record in the Hot Dog Eating Contest. McGee ate 13 quarter-pound hot dogs and buns in seven minutes.

His record smashed the old mark of 10 hot dogs in 2023.


Dash Chappell, 7, of Topsfield and Kinsley Castro, 6, of Amesbury, were crowned the 2025 Junior King and Queen on Saturday at the Topsfield Fair.

Every year the Topsfield Fair hosts a pageant for children between the ages of 5 to 8 years old to become the Junior King and Queen and serve as representatives of the Fair at local parades and other events throughout the year.

Contestants, who are asked to dress casually, are interviewed on stage, and judged according to general appearance, conduct, and personality.

The Topsfield Fair runs through Oct. 13.
