Heads-Up: Sobriety Checkpoint Planned This Weekend
Headed to a Christmas party this weekend? Don't forget to bring along a designated driver.

The Massachusetts State Police will hold a Sobriety Checkpoint in Essex County this weekend.
The checkpoint will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 into Sunday, Dec. 6 on a public way within Essex County.
State Police are not saying exactly where the checkpoint will be.

According to State Police, the purpose of the checkpoint is “to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways. It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.”

The sobriety checkpoint is made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
