Home Depot Customers with Stolen Data May Experience 'Inconvenience and Frustration'
The Home Depot customers that had their email addresses stolen from the company have now been notified.

Home Depot has now alerted the customers that had their emails addresses taken during a breach in the company’s computer system in September. Those customers may experience “inconvenience and frustration,” the company said in a message Wednesday to the customers believed to be affected.
Home Depot has 45 stores in Massachusetts, including two in Danvers, next to Liberty Tree Mall and on the southbound side of Route 1 at the intersection of Route 114 (Andover Street).
Last month, Home Depot discovered that a file containing payment card information was “breached” and part of that breach were many email addresses, which were also taken. In a statement, the company said “ the method of entry used by the hackers has been closed and the malware eliminated from our systems.”

While email addresses were taken, passwords, payment card information, or other sensitive personal information associated with the emails were not taken, according to a message to customers from Home Depot.
“We apologize for this incident and for the inconvenience and frustration this may cause you,” Home Depot said in its message.
