Ice Cream for Breakfast Supports Domestic Violence Prevention

On Saturday Cherry Farm Creamery will support HAWC (Healing Abuse Working for Change) at their Ice Cream for Breakfast event.

Maple Bacon ice cream? Poptart sundaes?

It's a child's dream come true: ice cream for breakfast. And, parents can feel good knowing their son or daughter's breakfast treat is going to a greater cause, supporting (HAWC.)

This year, the third annual at will donate half of all proceeds raised between 8 a.m. and noon to the organization.

HAWC, , provides services and support to victims of domestic violence residing in 23 cities and towns on the North Shore.

According to Cherry Farm, Ice Cream for Breakfast Day was started many years ago by a mother in upstate New York trying to break up the long winter months with something fun for her kids.

There are only four rules:

  • Eat Ice Cream
  • For Breakfast
  • On the first Saturday of February
  • Enjoy!

This year's event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 8 a.m. til noon. Owner Tom Jones suggests families get there early for the breakfast specials; the entire menu will be available as well.

Special menu items include: 

  • Waffle sundaes
  • Pop-Tart sundaes
  • “Coffee & Donuts” ice cream (coffee ice cream with chocolate glazed donuts mixed in)
  • “Maple Bacon” ice cream (maple flavored ice cream with bits of bacon mixed in)
  • “Banana Grape-Nut” ice cream; assorted cereals for toppings, as well as Banana-crunch-bars and warm maple syrup and blueberry toppings.
