Jury Selection Expected to Start This Week as Philip Chism Trial Gets Underway
Jury selection is scheduled to begin Wednesday in Essex Superior Court in Salem.

The murder trial for Philip Chism, who is now 16, is set for Oct. 7 in Salem Superior Court, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, a spokeswoman for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. Jury selection is set to begin this week in the trial of a teenager accused of raping and killing his math teacher in 2013.
Chism, who was a 14-year-old student at Danvers High School in 2013, is accused of killing 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer of Andover, a popular math teacher at Danvers High School. on Oct. 22, 2013.
