The Danvers DPW was pleased this week to announce the reopening of the Liberty Street causeway to two-way traffic after nine months of construction.

The newly constructed roadway re-opened on Monday morning, and will be open to thru traffic for the next six to seven months while soil consolidation takes place, according to town officials.

Construction so far includes two new concrete box culverts, new armor stone protection for the causeway, concrete sidewalks and granite curbing north of the causeway, as well as improved accessibility, signage and brand new utilities.

Major construction is expected to resume on the causeway and the southern portion of Liberty Street in April 2016. The project team would like to thank all of the homeowners and businesses for their patience and cooperation.
