Maple Street Tavern Announces Plan to Open Next Weekend
Owner Dean Borders met before the Board of Selectmen on Jan. 3 to give a status update of the new Maple Street Tavern.

Dean Borders said "it's the most difficult thing I've ever done," but he hopes to see the doors to the open by next weekend.
The tavern, located at the former C.F. Tompkin’s location, right next door to in Danvers Square has been in the works for more than two years.
At last night's meeting, Borders said the final planning stages include finalizing the water heater size, having it installed and calling for inspections. "I'm hoping to be open by next weekend," he said.

While Borders admitted he would've liked to have opened the tavern a year ago, he said opening a restaurant has been the most difficult thing he has done.
If all goes according to Borders' plan, the tavern will open the weekend of January 13-14.

The Selectmen congratulated Borders and wished him well in his endeavor.
"I think its a nice mix," Michael Powers said, noting his appreciation of other downtown businesses welcoming in the tavern. "You offer an alternative, and it makes Danvers a destination spot."
