DANVERS, MA — Salem District Court Judge Thomas Drechsler ordered a convicted sex offender to undergo an evaluation before he decides whether to impose a mandatory, 10-year sentence for violating probation.

Daniel Goichman, 57, has been in custody since he was arrested last year. He is accused of violating conditions of his parole for failing to keep his GPS monitoring bracelet charged and for visiting the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers for six hours in Dec. 2018 and Jan. 2019.

During a hearing Thursday, probation officials said they found photos of underage girls and nude selfies in his phone when he was arrested. According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, they also found evidence he had been using the Kik social networking app to chat with someone who appeared to be a teenager.
