Three-way Selectmen's Race In Delayed Danvers Election
Danvers officials reduced polling place hours and are encouraging voters to request mail-in ballots for the June 2 election.

DANVERS, MA — Three town meeting members will compete for a vacant seat on the Danvers Board of Selectmen in the June 2 town election.
Precinct 4 town meeting members Timothy Donahue and Maureen Bernard, and precinct 1 town meeting member Matthew Duggan are running for the seat currently held by Diane Langlais. Langlais is not running for reelection.
There are also contested races for town meeting member in precincts 2, 5 and 7 in the June 2 Danvers town election. Voters have until May 23 to register to vote in the election.

Earlier this month, Danvers selectmen shortened election day polling hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. as part of an effort to minimize risks of the new coronavirus for poll workers and voters. Polls are typically open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
Officials are also encouraging voters to request a mail-in ballot to avoid trips to the polls on election day.

In March, selectmen voted to push the town's annual election to June 2 from May 5 and town meeting to June 15 from May 18 under emergency authority granted by the state.
