What Happened at Town Meeting?

138 representatives from the eight precincts in Danvers joined to review 41 warrant articles at the Annual Town Meeting, held at on Monday night. 

Led by Town Moderator Patricia C. Fraizer, the body carried all but one of the 41 warrants. 

Here are some highlights from the meeting. Be sure to check back for more details from the evening throughout the day. 

Article 2: Town Meeting members approved budget appropriations at a total of $91,567,528. The total fiscal budget for 2013 is $97,759,100. 

Article 10: The town voted to amend the town bylaws by  on residence commercial and industrial buildings. The bylaw was brought forth by Chief Kevin Farrell, and was supported by the Town Finance Committee. 

Article 11: The Town voted against the proposal for amending the town bylaw for civil fingerprinting for criminal history checks on salesmen, through the . Selectman Keith Lucy's motion for no action, with return to the Board of Selectmen for further study, was carried. 

Article 15: A citizens petition for a 50' wide easement on 5 Patricia Road, the purpose of which was to allow for the construction of a road to an undeveloped property, was postponed indefinitely by the petitioner. 

Article 29: The town voted to remove the condition that all of the housing at the former Danversport School at 10 Water St. be required to be located within the former school. Plans for an affordable housing duplex, created by Habitat for Humanity on the 15,000 square foot lot were discussed. 

Article 40: A home-rule petition for an additional liquor license in Danvers, for Turner's Seafood was carried. The seafood restaurant, which has been in operation in Melrose for more than 18 years, is planning a $1.5 million renovation to 51 Needham Road, adjacent to and .
