Dedham Police: Reported Burglary at Legacy Place Deemed False Alarm

Tuesday, Oct. 28

At 3:20 p.m., police responded to a report of stolen copper at a building that had been in the process of being renovated. Police determined that the copper stolen had been full sections of pipe that were to be reused and removed.

At 2:40 p.m., police received a report of a scam that occurred on Monday, Oct. 27. A resident reported he received a phone call from a person identifying himself as an attorney and that his granddaughter had been visiting in Canada and had been in a motor vehicle accident, subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, and needed $500 to be released. The caller subsequently asked for two more payments to be made of $600 each, according to police. The matter is under investigation.

At 12:15 a.m., police responded to UNIQLO at Legacy Place on a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, Dedham police and Legacy Place security found the front doors of the store to be locked. Legacy security then reported they believed the caller was a manager, as the caller had stated a burglar had been inside the store but were not reporting an alarm. Officers gained entry to the store and cleared the business. The matter ended up being a misunderstanding, as the caller reported a burglar alarm and not an actual perpetrator.

At 5:22 p.m., police pulled over a blue Nissan in the area of Sawmill Lane and Whiting Avenue, where they arrested one Damian Suba for driving without a license.
