Dedham Resident Identified as Victim of Fatal Accident Tuesday

A 70-year-old Dedham woman was reportedly struck by a truck while crossing the street to go to church.

A woman struck and killed on Tuesday morning in Dedham was identified as 70-year-old Anne McIntyre, 70, of Dedham, police said.

McIntyre was struck by a vehicle on High Street across from St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church around 6:59 a.m. Tuesday, according to a statement by the Dedham Police Department. Responding officers found her laying in the church parking lot upon arrival, and she was subsequently taken by Fallon Ambulance to Norwood Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

Dedham police said it appeared McIntyre had been walking across High Street to attend 7 a.m. mass at the church when she was struck by a 2013 Nissan Frontier pickup truck, driven by a 25-year-old Boston man. The driver then pulled off the road and called 911, after which he was transported to a local hospital due to emotional distress and he was not cited on Tuesday. Police said they are looking at a solar glare as a possible contributing factor.
