'Determined, Aspiring Artist': Dedham Star Student

DEDHAM, MA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?

He is my son

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

My son is an amazing, self-taught artist. He has taken every opportunity since the age of 2yrs old to draw on any platform from a napkin to a canvas to a sidewalk and was a commissioned artist at the mere age of 12yrs old! He can turn out a masterpiece with ease and think it’s trash. I feel that this recognition will give him the confidence he needs to pursue and build his talent.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Miles is a kind, sweet young man with a love of all art, from sketching Michelangelo in pencil to a spray paint piece with a nod to Basquiat or even a custom-made pair of painted sneakers!
