“To those who supported me I express my profound thanks, I’m honored by the decision of the voters. To those voters who didn’t support me I am going to work very hard to earn their trust and their vote. I am a selectmen of all the people and all the citizens and so I embrace everyone,” DeRensis said.

Liffiton said he was disappointed with how the race turned out.

“Well I’m very thankful to my supporters, they were great, the campaign committee was outstanding and we’re disappointed in the results,” Liffiton said.

To his supporters Liffiton said, “Thank you for running a really clean race and I’m proud of everything we did.”

“I congratulate my opponent on a well-run race and I wish him the best,” said DeRensis.

DeRensis said that he believes he was elected because he has done a "good job" and now that the election is over there is a lot of work to do.

“I have a whole agenda that I’m working on, on alternate revenue sources. We’re working on this green initiative, we’re trying to carry that into the end zone. I want a second cell tower up and running in Sherborn that will provide cell phone service to segments of the community that don’t have it. We have a whole host of issues that we have to address on the issue of finding other sources of revenue,” said DeRensis.

“It’s a new beginning for the community. We have the state meals tax that we’ve adopted, we have got a fall meeting that’s coming up in which we’re going to address a number of different issues, playing fields, the library, Pine Hill Road, a whole host of issues,” DeResis said.

As for Liffiton's future he said at the moment he has nothing planned.

“I have no plans to run next year. No,” Liffiton said.

Linda DeRensis, Paul's wife and member of his campaign committee, said, “Paul loves this town. He is just very grateful for all of the support. It’s a great town and there’s great people in it and we’re just very grateful.”
