Five Things You Need To Know This Weekend: June 11 and 12

Be sure to check here for useful information about what is going on in Dover and Sherborn this weekend.

1. The New England Checkers Championship will be held in Dover on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will be held at 8 Pine Street in Dover. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., first round at 9:00 a.m. Format will be round-robin, play will probably finish by 6:00 p.m. For more information 508-785-3197 or email whitefork@verizon.net. 2. The Friends of the Dover Library will hold their 26th Annual House and Garden Tour Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In addition to presenting three of Dover’s finest homes, the tour will now separately showcase three of Dover’s most exquisite private gardens. The tour will feature samples from Dessert Works, Dover Market and the Sherborn Inn, as well as floral displays from Chicatabot Garden Club, Dover Garden Club, Perennial Designs and Powisset Garden Club.

3. The first Dover Open Space Committee '' walk will be in Wylde Woods on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be two groups, a short walk for kids and a longer walk. For more information email ameyblue@gmail.com.

4. Mandarin Chinese lessons continue this weekend at the Dover Town Library. There are three sessions on Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  for kids 6-months-old  to 4-years-old; 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for children 4-years-old to 8-years-old; 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for kids 8-years-old to 12-years-old.

5. At the on Saturday the Working Group-PS will be meeting at 8:30 a.m. They will be doing a review of capital projects guidelines for both Dover and Sherborn, discuss capital needs, and discuss funding options.
