Letter To The Editor: Vote Yes On Question #2

Note: The following is a letter to the editor from Sherborn resident Frank Hess.

I would like to thank all of the Sherborn voters who supported the Pine Hill safety issue at the Sherborn Town Meeting. The vote of support for the article proposing the paved extension of Pine Hill Road was 161 in favor and 99 opposed.  A bond issue requires a 2/3 majority vote at a Town Meeting and a simple majority vote at the Town Election.  I am sorry we didn’t make this process clearer prior to Town Meeting and appreciate the expressions of dismay at its failure.  Many of the people who did attend no longer have any students at Pine Hill School, but they understood the need for the project, as it impacts the whole community, and gave their support. Thank you again.

We have another chance! Tuesday, May 10, 2011, is the Sherborn annual election.  Even though the road did not get the 2/3 majority needed to pass yet, please vote yes on Ballot Question #2 at the election.  If Ballot Question #2 passes, a Citizens’ Petition is already being circulated that would require the Selectmen to call a special town meeting to address the Pine Hill Road Extension issue.  If a 2/3 majority vote is achieved at the Special Town Meeting, for the construction of Pine Hill Lane Extension, then another election and ballot question would not be needed.

Please vote YES on QUESTION #2 at the Town Election on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
