Letter To The Editor: Why We Support Paul
Note: The following is a letter to the editor from Frank and Liz Perlmutter, Ken and LindaSue Plageman, Fred and Jennifer Jordan.

We are writing to express our support for Paul DeRensis and his re-election campaign for selectman.
As many of you know, Paul is an experienced and dedicated selectman who has generously given his time to our community.
We all enjoy the benefits of living in this wonderful town with its magnificent rural character, and two "crown jewels"; our schools and Farm Pond.

Many of us have benefited from the quality education provided to our children and some of us might have moved here for just that reason.
Largely due to our rural character, Sherborn does not profit from the supplemental revenue that accompanies a robust business base (either industrial or service-based).

Paul recognizes all of this and is intent on maintaining the high quality of education provided in our schools, securing additional new sources of revenue for our town and implementing new measures to control expenses.
Paul is a municipal government expert with a practical knowledge of how to get things done, both at a state and local level, and has been successful in winning state government support for many of our local initiatives.
A good example was his ability to work with the state government to transfer ownership of Farm Pond (and all of the water rights) from the State to the Town of Sherborn, at no cost to the town.
Recently, Paul was elected President of the Massachusetts Selectman Association and reappointed by Governor Duval Patrick to serve our state on the "Local Government Advisory Committee." These positions gain Sherborn a tremendous advantage to have to our voice being heard in establishing state policies that directly impact our town today.
Over the past few years, Paul has consistently led the local effort to establish an open friendly and transparent government. He lead the effort to restore public comment to our government meetings over determined opposition last year.
Please join us in supporting Paul so he can continue to lead efforts to reduce expenses thru several potential regionalization initiatives and streamlining Sherborn’s current major departments. He will be a catalyst for prudent fiscal management while retaining the core “brand” of the Sherborn that many of us value and hope remains.
Respectfully,
Frank and Liz Perlmutter
