May's Artist Of The Month At The Dover Town Library

May's Artist of the Month at the Dover Town Library is Susan Patterson, who has been painting with watercolors and oil paints for over 15 years.

A former Dover resident, Patterson studied at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Worcester Art Museum, and the Newport Art Museum in Rhode Island.

"Painting and drawing are special gifts that have taught me to see the extraordinary in life. While my chosen mediums are oil and watercolor, an opportunity to study in printmaking last year opened up a world of discovery in the practical application of value, color and composition," Patterson said in her artist's statement.

"I am particularly drawn to the sea shore and the fishermen whose lives depend on it, although I also enjoy working on the figure and landscape. Atmosphere, light, mood, and movement make an impression on me and my goal is to reflect these ideas and features in my work," Patterson said.

Her work will be on display at the Dover Town Library throughout the month of May.
