Sherborn Resident Louise Coleman Organizing Greyhound Conference

Leading members of the international greyhound welfare community will be meeting for the 5th annual International Greyhound Welfare Conference to discuss current issues related to Greyhound, lurcher and Spanish Galgos situations around the world. Topics covering medical research advances, political lobbying, fund-raising and media development will all be discussed in presentations given by participants from Ireland, Spain, The United Kingdom, Canada and The United States. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.

Updates on current issues such as the decline of greyhound racing in the United States and the UK and the subsequent repercussions on the greyhounds will be reviewed. There will be an overview of the current international situation including an dialogue on the recently defeated plans for Irish racing greyhounds to be exported to China. Concerns about the expansion of racing to Asia and South America will also be discussed.

The conference will be held at Greyhound Friends Inc. 167 Saddle Hill Road, Hopkinton, MA on July 30 and 31, 2011 with the main presentations on the 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
