Cape Cod Armed Robbery: New Bedford Woman Arrested
Police said Kathleen Lyons, New Bedford, robbed a man at gunpoint in Yarmouth.

YARMOUTH, MA — A New Bedford who robbed a man at gunpoint Friday night on Cape Cod was arrested just an hour later, according to police. Kathleen Lyons, 30, was charged with a host of crimes and held on $5,000 bail. She could be held in custody until Tuesday, which is her earliest available arraignment window at Barnstable District Court since the court is closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Yarmouth police said the victim told officers Lyons and "three large males" robbed a man of his phone at about 7 p.m. at a Lower Brook Road residence.
"The reporting party further stated that the involved parties had fled in a dark-colored sedan in an unknown direction," Yarmouth police said in a statement.

A little more than an hour later, New Bedford police located Lyons in her hometown. Police said she was found with a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun in her purse.
Lyons was charged with felony armed robbery, felony assault with armed and assault.

"The Yarmouth Police Department commends the fantastic police work of Officers and Detectives involved the members of the New Bedford Police Department for their solid and prompt capture of the armed suspect and the recovery of a loaded firearm," police said in a statement.
