Fenway Student at Commonwealth School Named National Merit Semifinalist

A student from Fenway/Kenmore was named a National Merit semifinalist.

 

Samuel Shapiro, a student from Kenmore Square and a student at Commonwealth School in Boston's Back Bay, was named as a semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship program according to a press release from Commonwealth School.

Eleven Commonwealth students were named today as semifinalists, more than at any other co-ed high school in the Boston area. Over the last five years, 23 percent of Commonwealth seniors have been named as semifinalists.

Students qualify for this honor based on a their scores in the PSAT.

On a national level, less than one percent of high school seniors qualify to be
semifinalists.

National Merit finalists will be announced in the spring.
