Melrose Man Arrested in Fenway
Man charged with willful and malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer.

A Melrose man was arrested near Kilmarnock and Van Ness Street yesterday, September 11 at around 10:29 p.m.
Two officers were performing a detail outside Fenway Park during the Sox and Yankees game on Kilmarnock and Van Ness Street. According to the report put out by BPD News, officers heard people yelling, “Get him!”
Officers reportedly observed a man running in their direction and stopped the suspect. Officers learned that the suspect was observed breaking a mirror of a parked car.

As the officers were booking the man, he reportedly snapped his head back, head-butting the two cops in an attempt to disrupt the arrest and potentially flee. After a struggle, the suspect was taken into custody.
Tyler Murphy, 20, of Melrose, MA was charged with willful and malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer.
