Sox Honor Boston Teen For Community Service
Harrison Kay of Boston was honored at Fenway for his community service.
The Boston Red Sox and Lindos Sueños (Beautiful Dreams), , sent American teens to the Dominican Republic to perform community services and play baseball for the ninth straight year. These teens, including 18 year-old Harrison Kay of Boston, were honored at Fenway Park on Saturday, according to a press release from Elevate Communications.
Kay was selected as one of the 20 participants, 10 American, 10 Dominican, in this year’s program. The trip took place from July 25 to August 3. JetBlue donated round trip flights from Boston to Santo Domingo for all 10 American teens and members of the Lindos Sueños staff. Participants worked in El Mamón de Guerra rebuilding houses. This village is not far from the Red Sox Dominican Academy.
“It’s definitely a lot of motivation – you can see the home owners excited and talking to their neighbors. Everybody crowds around and watches us put up the new house. So it’s definitely a big neighborhood event and you can just tell from the second we get there, they’re all excited, they’re all waiting to introduce us to their kids,” Kay told the representatives from Elevate.
