UPDATED: 5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: April 2
Framingham State University president to speak at Framingham Public Library,
1. Framingham State University President Dr. F. Javier Cevallos will speak tonight at the main Framingham Library. Cervallos and Framingham State Associate Professor of Education Kelly Kolodny will present Framingham State, Higher Education: Rooted in History and Looking to the Future at 7 in the Costin room at the main Framingham Library, as part of the Lifelong Lecture Series.
The two speakers will discuss past trends in education, with a look at some of the current and future challenges the University faces both as an institution and as an overall system. The lecture is free and open to the public.
2. The Town of Framingham has a vision for the redevelopment of Downtown Framingham, and the vision includes transit-oriented development. Transit-oriented development includes a mixture of housing, office, retail and/or other amenities integrated into a walk-able neighborhood close to public transportation. Transit-oriented development creates better access to jobs, housing and opportunity for people of all ages and incomes.
The final public workshop is today at 1:30 p.m. at the Blumer Room in the Memorial Building.

- Framingham High School girls softball team’s game against Ashland has been postponed.
- Yesterday, the Framingham High boys volleyball team defeated Braintree 3-0, to go 2-1 on the season. Click here to view a slideshow of photos from the victory. The boys are back in action today against Algonquin at 4 p.m.
4. Plan ahead: Framingham Public Schools will be closed on Friday, April 3, however the Christa McAuliffe Charter School in Framingham will be open tomorrow on Good Friday, to make up its 8th snow day.
