5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: February 25

TWPTO will host a question and answer session on PARCC tonight and free screening of movie The 100 Foot Journey at Library this afternoon.

​​​1. Framingham TWPTO will meet tonight at McCarthy Elementary at 7. The focus of tonight’s meeting will be on the new state-wide testing program PARCC, which Framingham School Committee voted 4-3 in September to begin using this year.

Framingham Schools Director of Curriculum Grace Wai. She will make a presentation on PARCC, the new state testing Framingham will use next month, and hold a Q&A for parents.

High school students and grade 8 science students will still take MCAS in 2015, but all other elementary and middle school students will take PARCC, beginning in March. Click here for more details.

3. Framingham Library will hold a free screening of the 2014 movie The 100 Foot Journey at 2 p.m. The movie rated PG for thematic elements, some violence, language and brief sensuality.

The film is about the Kadam family, who leaves their native India, to settle in a quaint village in the south of France. They plan to open an Indian restaurant there, until Madame Mallory, the chilly chef proprietress of Le Saule Pleureur, gets wind of it. Refreshments will be served.


4. Plan ahead: Framingham High boys ice hockey team qualified for the MIAA playoffs and will travel to Randolph tomorrow to compete against Braintree High. Framingham is the #9 seed and Braintree is the #8 seed.


5. Three people were stabbed in Natick early Tuesday morning, following an argument at a house party on Harvard Street. One victim is in serious condition and was airlifted to Tufts Medical Center. The other two victims’ wounds are not life-threatening. Police arrested a suspect, who was to be arraigned in Framingham District Court. Click here for more details from Natick Patch.
