5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: February 26
Flyers hockey and Framingham State basketball in playoff games tonight and craft beer event at SKYBOKX 109.
1. Tonight, the Framingham High boys ice hockey team will travel to Randolph to take on Braintree High in a MIAA Division 1 South tournament game. The Flyers qualified for the post season, with a record of 9-6-5 and are ranked #9 in the tourney. Click here for more details.
2. Today is the last day to enter to win a pair of tickets to the 5th Annual Taste of MetroWest, on Tuesday, March 24. Framingham Patch and Petroni Media Company has teamed up with the MetroWest Chamber, organizers of the 5th Annual Taste of MetroWest, to give away 5 pairs of tickets to the Taste of MetroWest. SKYBOKX 109 is holding a Craft-beer event tonight from 6-9.Perfect for beer aficionados and novice sippers, alike, SKYBOKX 109 GastroSports’ beer tasting event will offer pours from Clown Shoes; Long Trail; Downeast Cider House; Kentucky Ale; Green Flash Brewing Company; Dogfish Head; Blue Point Brewing Company; Jack’s Abby; Mayflower Brewing Company, Bad Martha, and more! The 21-plus only event will also feature a an artisan pizza and wings buffet created by Executive Chef Noah Gagnon. Tickets are still available, and can be purchased at the door for $25.
4. The Framingham State University women’s basketball team won its opening game in the Conference tournament, and will now face top-seeded Westfield State University in the semifinal round tonight. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.

5. Congresswoman Katherine Clark says if Republicans delay a bill to fund Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. it could hold up FEMA payments to her district, which includes Framingham, from the recent blizzards and snow storms.

“Our communities have been devastated by unprecedented snowfall. Homeowners, businesses, and cities and towns need help to recover, but the Republican plan to shut down the Department of Homeland Security, including FEMA, threatens that recovery,” said Clark. “During a shutdown, FEMA will be unable to facilitate disaster claims, damage assessments, data collection, and relief programs. It doesn’t have to be this way.”
