5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: June 23

Thunderstorms expected this afternoon, Charter school graduation, and School Committee to approve 3-year teachers contract tonight.

1. The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for a significant severe weather today, including severe thunderstorms that may bring damaging winds (up to 70 mph), golf ball size hail, heavy rain, and a risk of isolated tornadoes. However, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has categorized eastern Massachusetts to be at a slight risk for severe weather.

2. The Framingham School Committee is expected to vote and approve a 3-year contract for the Framingham Teachers Association and a 3-year contract for cafeteria workers tonight, June 23, in a special meeting. Also on the agenda is a vote to approve the Superintendent’s review.

3. The Christa McAuliffe Charter School will hold its graduation at Framingham High tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. The Class of 2015 is the first class of grade 8 students to graduate from the new campus on Newbury Street.

4. The Town of Framingham Public Works Department has contracted for a business to do leak detection work during the overnight hours. You may see the vehicle late at night. Click here for more details.

5. The Framingham High Robotics Club held an electronics recycling event over the weekend at the high school. The fundraiser raised more than $1,800 for the club.
