5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: March 11

Art reception at library, new LGBTQ middle school meeting, Girl Scout leader/adult volunteer meeting and "super hero" Sen. Karen Spilka.

1. March is National Youth Art Month. Visitors to the main Framingham Library will find works from Framingham Public School students on display in the main lobby and in the Costin room.

Tonight, there is a reception from 6 to 7:30, for the artists and their families.

The art will be on display for all to see through the end of the month.

2. A new support program for LGBTQ middle school aged youth will meet tonight at First Parish Church in Framingham at 6:30. Click here to learn more about OUT MetroWest, and its new programs for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer middle school youth in MetroWest.

3. This is National Girl Scout week. Tonight, Framingham Girl Scout leaders will meet at 8 at Plymouth Church. Before the meeting there will be a SWAP of Girl Scout supplies, badges, patches, uniforms, books, etc at 7:30.

5. The Children’s League of Massachusetts held its annual advocacy day at the Massachusetts State House yesterday. The League is a coalition of more than 70 non-profit organizations working to promote the well-being of children and their families. Through public education and advocacy, the Children’s League promotes the availability, accessibility, and quality of needed services to children, youth, and their families.
