5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: March 19

Re-scheduled Framingham Coming Together event, sponsored by the Framingham Interfaith Clergy Association, tonight at the Memorial Building.

1. The Framingham Interfaith Clergy Association invited residents to attend the re-scheduled Framingham Coming Together, a community forum tonight from 7-9 p.m. at the Memorial Building.

The free event is “an opportunity to share stories in the community around the violence and loss of life in the tragedies of Ferguson, New York City and around the country.”



2. In anticipation of its home opener on Saturday, the New New England Revolution, professional soccer team, is on a “Turf Tour.”

The Tour stops at Suburban Athletic Club in Framingham tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The Turf Tour event will feature a Revolution Academy coach run clinic for children and appearances by select Revolution players and club mascot Slyde.

After the clinic, fans will have the opportunity to meet the players, who will pose for photos and sign autographs. The Battalion – the official “street team” of the Revolution – will be on hand with giveaways. Attendees will have the opportunity to win tickets to the Revs’ home opener on March 21.

3. Climate Disruption: A Braided Tale is the focus of tonight’s Lifelong Learning Lecture at the main Framingham Library.

Dr. Vandana Singh, an associate professor of physics and earth sciences at Framingham State University will tell a scientific story of climate change, intertwined with an account of the human story, including the speaker’s own journey of learning and transformation. The free lecture starts at 7 in the Costin Room. The series is a collaboration of Framingham State University and Framingham Public Library.


4. The Christa McAuliffe Charter School will hold its annual World Languages concert tonight from 6 to 8.

5. Plan ahead: Framingham representatives Tom Sannicandro and Chris Walsh will host a joint office hour on Friday, March 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at 9 Vernon Street in Framingham. ​​
