5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: March 23

Featured today is Framingham girls fastpitch softball, 13th Annual LGBT Health Awareness Week and the 5th Annual Taste of MetroWest.

1. Plan ahead: Tomorrow is the 5th Annual Taste of MetroWest. The event, sponsored by the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce is 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sheraton Framingham. Tickets are $28 in advance and $40 at the door. Children age 12 and under are $14 in advance. Last year, more than 1,200 people attended the event, which showcases food and beverages from MetroWest’s finest restaurants, caterers, gourmet and ethnic markets, wineries, brew houses, and local purveyors of fine liquors.

2. March is National Youth Art Month. The main Framingham Library is hosting an exhibit of Framingham Public School student’s works. More than 200 students have a piece in the exhibit. Today’s column photo is from the exhibit.

3. Framingham girls fastpitch softball League is now registering for its 2015 season. Play will begin at the end of April and will last until mid-June (6-7 weeks). The League is open to all girls in grades K-8. The League is broken into 5 divisions; Instructional (K-1), Intermediate (2-3), Junior B (4-5), Junior A (6-7), and Senior (7-8).

4. Fuller PTO is scheduled to meet tonight at 7.

5. Today kicks off the 13th Annual week National LGBT Health Awareness Week. This year’s theme is Time to Come Together: Trust, Transparency, Truth. The National Coalition for LGBT Health created National LGBT Health Awareness Week in 2003 to promote increased health awareness and outcomes in the LGBT community and promote the need for greater cultural competency in the healthcare system.
