5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: March 27

Framingham State junior pitches no hitter, Kerri Powers at Amazing Things, Chocolate Seder, and McAuliffe students perform Twelfth Night.

1. Junior Natasha Arseneau tossed a complete game five inning no hitter as the Framingham State University softball team defeated Lesley University 11-0 Thursday afternoon in the first game at the new softball field at Maple Street in Framingham.

The Rams are now 2-9 on the season, and will host Fitchburg State University for a doubleheader Saturday morning at 10.

2. Students from the Christa McAuliffe Charter School will perform Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at Boston Church of Christ tonight at 7:15.

Passover is a major Jewish spring festival that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. This year, Passover begins the evening of April 3.

4. Folk musician Kerri Powers performs tonight at Amazing Things Arts Center. She has performed at the Boston Folk Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, and Telluride Bluegrass Festival, among other prestigious gatherings.

According to the Amazing Things website, she recently released a self-title album. “With a track list that includes eight searing self-penned songs along with incisive covers of Janis Ian’s “Jesse,” and The Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody,” it ranks as Powers’ most accomplished collection to date.”

Tickets are still available at $20. $19 Seniors/Students , $17 Amazing members and $10 for those age 12 and under.

5. Plan ahead: Tomorrow is the 6th annual Battle of the Badges at Loring Arena. The annual hockey game between the Framingham Police Blue Liners v. Framingham Fire Jakes starts at 2 p.m. Admission is free but the team would like attendees to bring canned goods to donate to the Pearl Street Cafe.This is a fun family event.
