5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: May 1

Framingham State inauguration, sock hop at Stapleton Elementary and middle school theatre performances tonight at Fuller Middle

The Framingham State University Board of Trustees are hosting the event this morning at 9:30 at the Dwight Performing Arts Center on the Framingham campus. Dr. F. Javier Cevallos began his tenure as the 16th President of Framingham State University on July 1, in 2014.

2. All three Framingham public middle schools will participate in the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild Drama Festival Saturday.

Tonight, the public is invited to a preview performance of all three productions at 6:30 at Fuller Middle. Tickets can be purchased at the door at $12. Click here for more details on each production.

3. Stapleton Elementary School is holding its annual Sock Hop tonight. The event, with a basket raffle, is a fundraiser by the school’s PTO. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m.

4. The sixth seeded Framingham State University softball team was defeated 3-2 Thursday afternoon by the third seed Bridgewater State University Bears in an opening round game of the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Championship Tournament.

The loss ends the Rams season.

Earlier in the week, sophomore utility player Tiffanie Marsh of Tewksbury was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference Player of the Year and selected first team All-Conference as voted on by the league coaches. Last year the Framingham State students was named rookie of the year by the Conference.

5. PLAN AHEAD: The Homework Center of the Framingham Library will host a fundraising fashion show tomorrow, May 2 at 2 p.m. at the main Framingham library featuring well-known Framingham models - school and library leaders.

Tickets are $25 and include lunch and dessert and are still available. The fundraiser will support the construction of the new McAuliffe Library branch. Tickets can be purchase at the main Framingham Library or the current McAuliffe branch library today.
