5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: May 14

1. Tonight, across the country at Barnes and Noble booksellers first-time readers, re-readers, and families will be discussing the book To Kill a Mockingbird. The Barnes & Noble store in Shoppers World in Framingham is participating, with a 7 p.m. discussion. Click here for more details.

2. Framingham Town Meeting continues tonight with night 9.

The meeting is expected to start at 7;30 p.m. in Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building.

Town Meeting members are asked to adhere to parking restrictions downtown, due to construction. Recently, a Town Meeting member’s vehicle was towed and last night several vehicles were threatened to be towed.

The first item on the agenda is Article 15 and the Framingham Public Schools’ proposed $115.7 million 2015-16 school year budget.

3. Earlier this week, Town Meeting members in testing out their electronic voting devices said they did not support the findings of the Wells report and the 4-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

The question was asked of Town Meeting members if they agreed with the NFL’s decision?

The vote was 12 in favor, 57 opposed and 27 members abstained.

4. FLYERS in action today:

  • Girls lacrosse team will host Brookline at 3:45 p.m. at the high school.
  • Boys travel to Brookline for a 4 p.m. game
  • Boys tennis team has a match in Natick at 4 p.m.

5. Support Brophy Elementary School today from 6 to 8 p.m. buy having an ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s in Natick. A portion of all proceeds will go to the school’s PTO. No flyer needed.
