Framingham Town Meeting voted 128-9-2 to approve a $115.7 million Framingham Public Schools budget for the 2015-16 school year.

1. Framingham Town Meeting voted 128-9-2 to approve a $115.7 million Framingham Public Schools budget for the 2015-16 school year,last night.

The Standing Committee on Education made a motion to increase the budget amount to $116 million plus but Town Meeting members rejected the amendment 41-84-7.

Last week the Framingham Selectmen, School Committee, Town Manager and CFO had agreed to a compromise budget amount of $115.7 million for the schools. In the agreement, the Selectmen and School Committee agreed to speak against any amendment to lower or raise the compromise amount.

Framingham’s Chief Financial Officer Mary Ellen Kelley originally was recommending Framingham Town Meeting approve a public school budget of $114.9 million for the 2015-16 school year.

Framingham Superintendent of Schools Stacy Scott was recommending a $116 million budget for the 2015-16 school year, a $6.6 million increase over the current budget of $109.4 million.
