$5,000 MutualOne Foundation Grant To Help Provide Seniors With Access To Medical Care

The Patient Navigator/Enhanced Medical Escort Program provides volunteers who facilitate and accompany elders to doctor appointments.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The MutualOne Charitable Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to Jewish Family Service (JFS) of MetroWest in support of a program that helps frail elders in Framingham and Natick with their medical needs.

The Patient Navigator/Enhanced Medical Escort Program provides volunteers who facilitate and accompany elders to doctor appointments and medical procedures. Navigators also provide a summary of each appointment for family caregivers, and facilitate access to other needed resources and services.

Jewish Famiy Service of MetroWest Chief of Operations Lino Covarrubias said the program has enrolled 336 frail elders and provided enhanced medical escort services for more than 1,050 appointments.

“This is a valuable service for the older adults of our community,” said the MutualOne Charitial Foundation Chair Robert P. Lamprey.“The MutualOne Charitable Foundation is pleased to contribute to its continued success in meeting the medical needs of our seniors.”

The grant to Jewish Family Service was among awards totaling $82,000 in the Foundation’s most recent round of funding.

Since it was established in 1998, the MutualOne Charitable Foundation has donated over $3.2 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enrich the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.

MutualOne Bank, which operates under an 1889 state charter, has full-service offices at 828 Concord Street and One Lincoln Street in Framingham and at 49 Main Street in Natick, a Commercial Loan Center at 160 Cochituate Road in Framingham, and a Residential Loan Center at 49 Main Street in Natick.
