AAA: Gas Prices Up 4 Cents; Average Price is $2.25 a Gallon

But according to AAA Northeast, gas prices are still $1.21 cheaper than they were in February 2014.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are up four cents from last week, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham off Route 9.

AAA’s Feb. 23 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.25 per gallon, up four cents from last week.

Prices locally are 17 cents higher than a month ago.

The current price is five cents lower than the national average for self serve unleaded of $2.30.

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $1.21 higher at $3.46.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 45 cents, from a low of $1.90 to a high of $2.35. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every trip, every time.
