AAA: Gas Prices Averaging $2.41 a Gallon

Prices locally are 20 cents higher than a month ago, according to AAA Northeast.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down four cents from last week, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham, off Route 9.

AAA’s March 16 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.41 per gallon, down four cents from last week.

Prices locally are 20 cents higher than a month ago, according to a press release.

The current price is a penny less than the national average for self serve unleaded of $2.42. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $1.10 higher at $3.51.

“There’s good news for motorists this morning as prices at the pump reverse direction. This welcome decrease reflects a dip in crude oil prices as well as robust supplies here in the U.S,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast, in a written statement.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 24 cents, from a low of $2.25 to a high of $2.49.
