AAA: Gas Prices Drop Again; Within Penny of Lowest Price in 2015

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 60 cents, from a low of $1.89 to a high of $2.49.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down two cents from last week, and within a penny of the lowest price this year, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham off Route 9.

AAA’s Oct. 26 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.07 per gallon, down two cents from last week.

Prices locally are seven cents less than a month ago.

The current price is 13 cents less than the national average for self-serve unleaded of $2.20.

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $1.02 higher at $3.09.

β€œFalling crude oil prices supported by build-ups in domestic inventory have contributed to the price of gasoline, both locally and nationally, continuing to move lower,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. β€œThe national average could fall below $2.00 before the end of the year for the first time since 2009.”

AAA Fuel Saving Tip of the Week: Aggressive driving can lower a car’s fuel economy by up to 33 percent. Instead of making quick starts and sudden stops, go easy on both pedals. If there is a red light ahead, ease off the gas and coast up to it rather than waiting until the last second to brake.
