AAA: Gas Prices Drop a Penny in Massachusetts

A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was 79 cents higher at $2.85.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down a penny from last week, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.

AAA’s Nov. 30 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.06 per gallon, down one cent from last week. Prices locally are the same as a month ago.

The current price is two cents more than the national average for self-serve unleaded of $2.04.

“The lowest Thanksgiving gas prices in seven years helped spur plenty of holiday travel, and the downward trend at the pump continues on the heels of the long holiday weekend,” says Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 47 cents, from a low of $1.93 to a high of $2.40. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every trip, every time.
