AG's Office Holding First-Ever Community Action Hours in Arabic

Building on her commitment to make the resources of her office more accessible to diverse communities across the state, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced her office will be holding its first Community Action Hours event in Arabic on Thursday.

Staff from Healey’s office will answer questions in Arabic on a variety of issues including housing, health care and civil rights and will provide information sessions on workers’ rights at the New American Center in Lynn Thursday morning.

The Community Action Hours is a new initiative under the AG’s Community Engagement Division that brings the resources of the Attorney General’s Office directly into communities at times that are convenient for working people and their families.

“This is the people’s law firm and it’s important that people from different backgrounds across Massachusetts are able to connect with our office and access information,” said Healey, in a press release.

“No matter what language you speak, our message is clear: we’re here to help,” said Healey.

Next week, the AG’s Office will hold Community Action Hours in Spanish at the Chelsea Collaborative.

The Office held action hours in Spanish at Iglesia de Dios de la Profecia in Lawrence in September. The AG’s Office has held Community Action Hours in Framingham, Roxbury, Dorchester, Lawrence and Brockton and has others scheduled in New Bedford and other Boston neighborhoods.

Community organizations can also request that the AG’s Office participate in their community events through the office’s Community Engagement Division’s website
