Assistant Town Manager To Leave Framingham For Casino Community

Jennifer Thompson was named Framingham Assistant Town Manager in March 2013.

Framingham’s Assistant Town Manager will be leaving.

Plainville Selectmen voted Monday night to offer Jennifer Thompson the position of Town Administrator.

She is expected to start later this summer. Thompson will replace Joseph Fernandes, who is retiring after two decades with the town.

Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin promoted Thompson to Assistant Town Manager in March 2013, from her position as director of capital finance and procurement for the Framingham Department of Public Works.

Thompson, except for a couple of years working for the Barnstable County Sheriff, has worked for the Town of Framingham since 1999. She started her career in Framingham working for the Framingham Fire Department.

She has a masters in public administration.

Thompson was one of three finalists for the Plainville position. The other finalists were Gregory Enos, assistant town administrator in Whitman, and Christopher Sandini, director of finance in Hudson.

Plainville Selectmen interviewed all three finalists Monday night.

More than 40 individuals applied for the position, which is considered a “prize” now that a casino recently opened in Plainville. The Plainridge Park Casino opened this month.
