Beauty PaRLR and RLR Studio Celebrate Anniversary
Rachael Lynsey Rubin opened her two businesses, a year ago in the historic Saxonville Mill.
Nestled inside the historic Saxonville Mills is a beauty sanctuary and a photo studio owned by Rachael Lynsey Rubin. The 24-year-old opened her businesses with the goal of pampering people and capturing their beauty.
And tonight, her businesses - Beauty PaRLR and RLR Studio - will celebrate their one-year anniversary, with a star-studded private party, that is also a CD launch party for Magic 106.7’s Candy O’Terry.
“It will be a fabulous event to celebrate two female entrepreneurs and their journey so far,” said Rubin, who grew up in Framingham, but now lives in Natick.

Rubin started her career in New York City, after graduating from Hofstra University. She was a makeup artist at a salon and also at Victoria’s Secret. She also worked for a celebrity stylist, who taught her the ropes of the industry.
“She set me up in NYC fashion week and had me working with high profile socialites and models,” said Rubin.

In New York City, many photographers and makeup artists work out of loft spaces, so when Rubin saw the 3,000 square foot studio space in the former Roxbury Carpet Company Mill, she knew she had found the perfect location for her new venture back home.
Beauty PaRLR is a “beauty sanctuary with one simple goal to make you look and feel like the perfect version of yourself,” said Rubin.
The salon offers hair, makeup, eye lash, threading, and waxing services. Prices are reasonable and comparable to salons in MetroWest, and especially Boston.
For hair, stylists cut, color, highlights, add extensions, and create updos.
During the recent prom season, her salon was booked solid, with more than 40 updos scheduled the night of the Framingham High junior cotillion.
Rubin said she hand-picked each employee and made sure they were masters in their craft.
Rubin is also the owner and photographer of RLR Studio, which offers a range of services from family photography, to corporate head shots, to senior portraits, to model and fashion photography.
“Anyone who steps in front of my camera is sure to feel like a model,” said Rubin.
Her business is unique, as the salon and studio are combined into one suite.
“This is not something that exists in MetroWest. We are cutting edge not only in Massachusetts, but in New England,” said Rubin.
“Coming to Beauty PaRLR and RLR Studio Inc. is more of an experience than a service,” said Rubin. ”We give each client the extended time they need in order to achieve their desired look. The client is listened to and cared for. Customer service is the name of the game. If the client is not happy, neither are we.”
Rubin said her businesses are different in MetroWest because of the “consistency of our services, the level of quality and the fact that we are extremely on trend with our beauty services. Everything we do is on trend with NYC, Miami, and LA.”
She said her stylists are “passionate and care about the outcome of their work.”
“My photography is different because it is paired with celeb-quality makeup and hair services and I specialize in finding the perfect angle of every individual,” said Rubin, who has worked with celebrities including Tinashe, Katie Nolan from Fox, Joyce Kulhawik, O’Terry, and Leila Goldkuhl from Top Model.
Rubin’s passion for her job shows through her work as both a make-up artist and from behind the lens of a her camera.
“I love my job for so many reasons,” said Rubin. “Primarily I find my job rewarding because I have been given the gift of transforming individuals into the perfect version of themselves and truly capturing that on my camera. There is nothing more rewarding in my life than watching my client’s pure happiness when they look in the mirror or on the camera and LOVE what they see. That is what keeps me going.”
Rubin uses her makeup tools like an painter with a canvas. She eliminates flaws and brings out the inner and outer beauty of her clients.
She listens closely to her clients as a makeup artist, and said that is key.
“The hardest part of being a makeup artist or hair stylist is the translation. As the professional you must decode what the client is asking for and give them a version that would work for them. My stylists and I have thorough consultations before beginning any service,“ said Rubin.
Rubin is already booking for senior portraits for the Class of 2016. She specializes in a natural look for these portraits, and enjoys photographing the students in natural settings.
She said the minimalistic trend will continue this summer. Other makeup trends this summer she said include “a pop of color on the lip, a glowing complexion, and wispy lashes.”
And with lashes, don’t worry if you were not blessed with long, full lashes, Beauty PaRLR can create that look for you with lash extensions. The procedure is done in a couple of hours and will last a couple of months. A full set will cost $200. There is no need for mascara after the procedure.
The salon also caters to brides, and will go on locations for weddings.
Rubin’s salon also offers makeup lessons for teens and individuals and will do custom make-up parties for clients. Rubin charges $100 for her personalized make-up artistry.
After a year in business, Rubin has a vision for the future too.
“I want to continue to make individuals feel great about themselves through my salon and photography,” said Rubin. “I want to grow, with out sacrificing quality. I will continue to stay on point with trends and bring the city vibe to the suburbs.”
