Boston Globe Ditches Problematic Distributor

Boston, MA - The Boston Globe hopes to fix ongoing delivery woes by ending its partnership with the company that left thousands of papers undelivered and lost thousands of subscriptions.

Long Beach, California-based ACI Media Group took over delivery in late December but, as the Globe itself reported, the company mucked up delivery routes and lost frustrated drivers.

The Globe subsequently split its routes between former delivery partner Publishers Circulation Fulfillment Inc. and ACI. After missed and late deliveries persisted, it has come to what the Globe describes as a mutual decision to part ways with ACI.

In the course of the delivery troubles, the Globe summoned staff members to help deliver papers.

The switch to ACI was originally conceived as a cost-saving measure, but the Globe must now find those efficiencies elsewhere as it returns to it previous delivery partner.

Framingham residents registered several complaints about their Sunday and daily delivery with the distribution change,

The transition back to PCF should be complete by Monday, the Globe reports.
