Christa McAuliffe Charter School student Annais Weiss, 12, was the winner of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Framingham Post 929 contest to dedicate the Christa McAuliffe branch Library’s flag pole.
The “dedication’s purpose was to both remember Christa McAuliffe and to inspire future adventures,” said Framingham Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander Nick Paganella.

The mission, which was open to all Framingham students, was to create an inspirational message to capture the indomitable spirit of Christa McAuliffe, a Framingham resident who was the first teacher in space.
The winning 40-character message was ”When Challenges Seem Impossible, Try Harder”

That message will be inscribed at the base of the flagpole of new Christa McAuliffe Library branch, under construction on Water Street in Nobscot.
The grade 6 student when presented with a check said she wanted to donate it to the McAuliffe Library, so more books could be purchased.
Paganella announced Weiss as the winner during the Town of Framingham’s Memorial Day program on Monday.
Weiss attended Barbieri Elementary before starting the charter school this year.
