The City of Framingham’s 2022 Inauguration Ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at noon in Nevins Hall, in the Memorial Building. The ceremony will celebrate the swearing in of Charlie Sisitsky as Mayor of Framingham as well as the new City Council, School Committee, Library Trustees, and Edgell Grove Cemetery Trustees.
In-person attendance at the event will be strictly limited, due to public health guidance associated with the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Those in attendance will be required to wear masks and attest that they have been fully vaccinated.

“Due to ongoing public health concerns, we made the difficult decision to move to a primarily virtual ceremony for the Inauguration and Swearing In. After consulting with state and local public health professionals, we concluded that this was the safest alternative for those being sworn in as well as the community,” said Mayor-elect Sisitsky. “Therefore, my office will not have tickets to distribute to constituents. I know that many are disappointed by this. I certainly am as well. However, public health and safety are paramount.”
The Inauguration Committee is working on enhanced opportunities for the public to watch the ceremony online. The virtual ceremony will include the customs, speeches, and presentations expected at such an event, but in a new light.
“By pre-producing portions of the ceremony, we are honoring Framingham traditions and celebrating our City,” said 2022 Inauguration Committee Chair Laurie Jeanne Carroll.
