CITY SOLICITOR CHRISTOPHER PETRINI TO RETIRE JUNE 30, 2022
Framingham, MAΒ -- Christopher J. Petrini has announced his retirement as Framingham City Solicitor effective June 30, 2022, after serving continuously as Framinghamβs principal legal officer for more than 20 years, first as Town Counsel from 2001 to 2017, and then as City Solicitor from 2018 to the present.
Framinghamβs longest-serving current division head, Petrini has served under two mayors, four town managers, and 16 boards of selectmen. In his two roles, he has represented the City in over 500 lawsuits and other major matters.
βI have enjoyed the opportunity to serve as Framinghamβs principal legal officer for the past 20 years,β said Petrini. Β βEach and every day I have worked hard, along with the other attorneys at Petrini & Associates, P.C., to devote our full professional efforts to deliver the highest quality and most cost-effective legal services to Framingham.β
He added, βI thank Mayor Sisitsky, former Mayor Spicer, prior Boards of Selectmen, and all of Framinghamβs elected officials and appointed officials, department heads and division heads for the opportunity to work together to improve, protect and further the interests of the City that I love, my hometown. Β I look forward to the opportunity to pursue other interests and will fully support Mayor Sisitsky in the transition and as requested thereafter.β
βChris and I have worked together since the time we served as colleagues on the Board of Selectmen,β said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. βWe continued our relationship after he transitioned to Town Counsel and then to City Solicitor when Framingham became a city. Chris has always been passionate about protecting the interests of Framingham. I know him as a person who can always be depended upon to do the right thing and always give good advice. Framingham has been fortunate to have benefitted from the services of Chris for so many years and I wish him the very best in his retirement.β
A statewide expert on municipal law, Mr. Petrini is routinely consulted for public comment on legal cases and developments of significance to local governments. His cases have been featured, or he has been quoted, in more than 35 front-page articles of the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly since 2003.
Although stepping down from his appointed role of City Solicitor, Mr. Petrini and his firm will continue to serve municipal clients on a selective basis. He also intends to devote more time to his avocations of mountaineering, hiking, and writing.
